For 18 months, the hard to pronounce A8A8 has been in stealth startup mode. In this new year we will have the chance to spread our wings. New funding is coming in, so it is time to describe the business publicly.
A8A8 (pronounce it Aces and Eights), is a company that offers proven models for quantum computing to solve for tasks that have no classical computing solution. Classical computers have been with us since the 1950's. Looking back, they were primitive to what we have today, but they also automated tasks and provided error correction that would be normal in human performed tasks. Today we have machines like the Raspberry Pi which weight ounces, cost about $70 with all the trimmings, and are 4.5 times faster than the 1978 Cray 1 that cost $10 for computer, facility, and power supply (115 kilowatts!!!). Quantum Computing comes to us in a time when we have pushed beyond the boundaries of what classical computer design allows for.
While Generative Artificial Intelligence grabs the headlines, its not yet truly useful. This is because it often times makes inaccurate statements, and often complete fabrications. I don't know how long it will take to fix those problems. I do know that prior to the widespread use of transforms in NLP, work was under way for NLP fact extraction. Perhaps Large Language Model (LLM) model builders will revisit those efforts to clean up the current mess. There is promise in LLMs, and I've personally found it useful to chat with it on important subjects. However, I don't ask it for facts, and I look for validations for its advice.
Quantum models are based on facts. They can analyze billions+ of interactions in simulated space and will adhere to the facts of that space. You can trust the results as much as you can trust your own understanding of that space. The models can be made data agnostic which can generalize the process, and lead to reuse. This reuse is a central tenet of A8A8's operations. Each new model that solves an important problem will be generalized to solve similar problems. This reuse will be made to reduce costs for customers and shorten delivery time of solutions. Customers will be able to shorten their own development time because most of the work is in simple API calls.
One last item that is important to know about the company. We will demonstrate each model in working applications. We will make money from our own models to demonstrate their validity and fund new model creation. Because the models are agnostic, hopefully, you can turn around profitable results equally well. If we don't yet have a model you can use, we are certainly happy to discuss a project in which we guide you through a process that allows us to build a model that can help you gain the benefits of quantum computing and gives us a generic model that can be put to use elsewhere. Details of this kind of arrangement can be discussed in private.
